Three apprentices. One construction site.
A lot of responsibility.

13. October 2026

On Bernerstrasse in Baden, three road construction apprentices got a taste of what it’s like to be a foreman and applied their technical knowledge in real-world conditions.

From ordering materials to coordinating with the various parties involved and preparing reports, our apprentices handled these tasks independently and gained valuable experience in the process. Our site manager, Michael Bühler, guided them through the process and was on hand to answer any questions. The project involved removing the existing asphalt pavement and the existing inlet shaft, as well as redesigning the area in line with Baden’s “sponge city” initiative. As part of this, the parking areas were largely unsealed and redesigned using turf liners. The access area was resurfaced and adapted to match the existing area.

A construction site like this is more than just a practical exercise. It challenges the apprentices to apply their knowledge, work as a team, coordinate processes, and find solutions even when things don’t go according to plan. At the same time, they gain independence, a sense of responsibility, and confidence for their future careers.

A big thank you to the City of Baden, which has actively supported the training of our future skilled workers through this project and enabled the apprentices to gain this valuable hands-on experience.
